Our programmers and network engineers most of the time are outside to install and troubleshoot software and hardware. I want to know if there is a standard form being used in PM to monitor this. Saving Changes...
I didn't see a response to your post and thought I'd give you my 2 cents.
I'm not sure there is a standard solution for your problem. I've seen many different solutions, some obviously good, others really bad. Like any solution, understanding what you're trying to monitor and accomplish from that monitoring will drive the complexity of the solution. I say that like you didn't know that - clearly you do, but it does help sometimes to state a baseline comment. Ok?
Based on your note, I am assuming your organization already has a management tool of some variety to log, track and manage the Problems being addressed by the programmers and network engineers. If that system is a spreadsheet or notes on someone's notebook, then obviously - have them call you when they're done with each call and log it.
If your situation is more complex, which I would hope, I have seen very elegant systems with UPS, FedEX, IBM. and Arizona Power. These folks all use a remote device (hardware) that each field person carries - their individual calls are available for them to review, log time against, order parts, log problem information, etc.
So - is there a standard form being used? Probably not. It shouldn't be that complicated to develop - especially if you want to have the field personnel fill it in. A simple table on a page with some basic info - date, who, where, when, what was done, and how long did it take.
