I've been looking at all the PMP exam preparations that offer 35 hours PDU's for both online and in class, I'm more of an 'in class' learner. When comparing in class to online, it seems that in class doesn't get the additional benefits as online (vocabulary cards, practice exams, Audio files, Work books). Besides the normal pro/cons of classroom vs online, what are the additional perks that you get with the in class even if it is not stated on what is included?

Please note that a PMP exam preparation that offers 35 hours of PDUs is oxymoronic.

PDUs are only earned after you obtain your PMP. Therefore, preparing for the PMP cannot give you PDUs.

Check out Project Management Academy. Disclosure - I have been teaching there on and off for the past six years. But I am wholly independent, am fairly discerning and my continued association with them means I regard their materials and instructors highly. The in-class and virtual sessions receive exactly the same material.

Stéphane- you are correct. I misspoke, it was credit hours for your PMP.

Jim- thanks for recommendation

Zacahry,

First, you should look with your local chapter in Houston. They may provide course or could refer you to a local organization. There is many online offering possibly cheaper, locally in Montréal price is high check for Houston.

Also, what is your preference online or face to face?

In any case, what is the rate of success if you can get that information.

I recommend courses and kit for PMP exam preparations in site of Rita Mulcahy.
I have readed the book and the Hot Topics of Rita Mulcahy, are very useful.

Any time spent in a class requires additional personal time to learn the stuff. In my experience, in average 160 hours (range of 80-320) of effort is required to be prepared for the exam. How long do you need to read a book of 700 pages?

There are different types of classes I have seen:
- 1-2 kickoff workshops to help you plan for the exam preparation
- bootcamps of 3-5 days which should be taken after you already have a basic knowledge of PMBoK
- walkthru's of the PMBoK knowledge areas spread over 2-3 months

In the courses online or classroom for PMP exam preparations not earn PDU's, it is earn when you have PMP certification.

I assume you gained eligible 35 PDUs to appear for exam.
After meeting minumum PDUs, in order to prepare for exam, best dource is PMBOK 6th edition and questions from PM challenge.
I have recently cleared exam with following resources:

1. Rita Mulcahy for PMP exam. It provides required knowledge in schedule, cost, risk, scope management areas. For stakeholder and communications management, expertise can be gained only through practice question.
2. Practice exams provided by Oliver Lehmann is the best I have faced. I have given practice tests by Rita book.

Advise:

Don't get carried away by the phlethora of sources available on the internet. Majority of which deviate you from your regular path. What requires to clear PMP exam is robust planning, stay in examination mode by taking PM challenge and questions by Scordo. Give mock tests, atleast four before you appear for main exam.

While giving mock tests and main tests, I always feel the gaps in stakeholder and communication management, though less weight is given to these areas, questions are some how linked to multiple knowledge areas.
