I am currently working with an US-International Company. We provide Project Management services to our US-Clients who want to build their facilities overseas and understand the benefits of having PM services. I was hired and started working with the Company in a Project in Mexico. Being there, I saw the rejection - from local managers and other possible clients - to PM services for many reasons: 1. "We can handle it our selves". 2. "We don't have the money to pay for that". 3. "The contractors know what they have to do". 4. "What's so difficult about that? It's just a matter of filing, meetings, phone calls and supervision, isn't it?" 5. "Safety first? We know that! Didn't you see the poster at the main entrance. It tells you about our Safety Philosophy" 6. "Who knows our business, rules and local contractors better than us?"
Being Mexican myself, I'd like to have facts, statistics and any other type of information about PM benefits and advantages for the Clients/Projects. I think this would be an excellent information to include in our presentations and proposals to our future clients.
Puedo decirte que uno de los tantos beneficios obtenios en la aplicaci=n de las tecnicas del Project Management en L.A. (especialmente en Mexico) es que permite a la organizacion, al encargado del o los proyectos y cualquier involucrado en el mismo, conocer el que? (alcance del proyecto), el como? (estrategia de ejecucion del proyecto), el cuando? (fechas de eventos del proyecto)y el quien? (el responsable de ejecutar los trabajos). Esto lo comento por en la mayoria de las veces no se tiene claro cual es el alcance total del proyecto, cual es la estrategia o los procesos a seguir para cumplir con los objetivos y metas. Podemos encontrar que en un mismo proyecto donde participan varios grupos de trabajo se desconcen que actividades realiza el otro grupo y si estas se relacionan con las actividades de otros grupos del mismo proyecto.
