Decision-making process is very much consensus driven and takes care to have sufficient participation and buy-in.

Please say more about managing projects in a consensus-driven environment. I've yet to work in one, and I can hardly imagine how anything gets achieved in a timely manner if consensus needs to be reached regarding every decision.

Eric,
consensus driven decision making is also the rule in other cultures like Japan and basically used in agile teams, both from my personal experience.

It is in contrast to hierarchical, command and control, power driven decision making and builds on diversity, respect and fairness. Consensus makes decision more acceptable and sustainable, since everybody had a chance to participate and also everybody's views were heard.

It is arguably slower than command and control, but it does not create the resistance. A great leader knows when to use which style.
