I've been trying to improve some spreadsheets by baking in more knowledge in them but I've come across severe resistance from the management whom I can't seem to convince of the value in reducing the data entry work involved. My peers seem to understand and accept the value in the changes I am pushing.
What do you think the root cause of such behavior is?

Be creative how you communicate, are you talking with finance people then, show them numbers, savings, are you talking with tech people, engage them in a discussion about the quality or the use of the data...
Hope it helps. Saving Changes...
i would suggest for you to find a few allies both from top management and your colleagues. after that, they can influence their peers to see the value of this improvement. to do this, you need to have individual discussions and approach them with empathy and really trying to open up the communication channels Saving Changes...

I didn't push for this any further and a whole year later the said manager proposed improvements that were a poorly executed version of my original proposal. Needless to say I no longer work for that business. Saving Changes...
