Social networking is an enabler of KM. Many organizations are setting up the social networking infrastructure, aka Web 2.0, to enable enhanced freedom of information flow. Public social networking forums are also forms of KM, but in the public realm, and hence not focused just on the organization's problems, but maybe in a problem area of interest to the organization (i.e. HR, proj mgt, etc).
