Does the CompTIA Project + certification mean anything? That was my first certification. Now I am studying for the PMP. Saving Changes...

Depends on who you ask.
Most jobs ask for the PMP. From that perspective, it makes the PMP more valuable and more meaningful. (I am studying for my PMP as well).
I think in most cases, for any certification they are only valuable for getting by recruiters. If it came down between a recruiter picking someone with only a PMP or someone with a PMP and a Project+ you will likely win that round. They aren't likely to know the difference, I don't know the difference between the two.
Other than just the learning path, there really is only one value to them - eye candy for the recruiters. A hiring manager should at least know some of the differences and what they actually want - which isn't always what a PMP delivers. So in that case, the Project+ knowledge learned could be more valuable, or it could be Prince2, or Agile, or none of those. It's like playing darts while blindfolded sometimes. You don't know what they want until they ask. Half my certs (I am being generous) provide no tangible value. But I didn't take them all for recruiters, I took them to see if I could do it. The PMP I am taking for recruiters.
So in a long convoluted way, I am saying - I don't know if it means anything. And now I am wondering why I bothered to answer this question. Saving Changes...

Most employers I have experienced want experiences similar to the initiative that they are looking for a PM. After that they go for certifications and PMI is the most recognized.

Thank you Georgia. I have been in the IT industry for several years but not a ton of exposure to the PM world.
Someone else made a comment too about PMI being a global industry standard which makes sense.

This is the first time I come across CompTIA Project + certification! I guess it's not common in Australia. PMP is a global credential that is well-recognised internationally wherever you are!

Thank you Amany. Shadav how a good point about CompTIA's certification being more IT driven.
If you are an IT professional and want to add project management to your overall portfolio of technology skills, then Project+ is probably your best certification path.
The main difference between the CompTIA and PMI certifications is that PMI focuses on project management professionals, But CompTIA’s target audience is IT and business professionals who manage projects as part of their overall responsibilities
PMI is the well known known and valuable . Saving Changes...

Good input and distinction. from Shadav.
But let's not lose sight of the value is the initiative of the individual to take the extra effort to step out of their comfort zone to learn and earn additional accreditation to improve themselves in their industry. Saving Changes...

I've been a PM in the IT industry for nearly 20 years, and I've never heard the Project + certification mentioned by any hiring manager, nor have I seen it in a job advertisement. Therefore, I don't think it will give you much of a leg up on your competition. However, even technical people are familiar with and respect the PMP. Saving Changes...
