Characteristics POA DPOS
"Permissoned
Or
Permissionless" Permissionless Both

Transaction Rate Low High

Token Needed Yes Yes

Costing Yes No

Scalability of
Peer Network High High

Trustless No No

Adversay
Tolerence Unknown Unknown

P.S
Proof of Activity (“POA”): POA is similar to POW. The only difference is that it doesn’t require miner to mine a new block and the transactions are not required to be part of the new block. Basically, it is a sole purpose on tackle the complex cryptographic puzzle (Davila and Tarnow 2019).

Delegated Proof of Stake (“DPOS”): DPOS allows miners to vote for “delegates” before transaction input. The delegates are responsible for validation and maintenance of the transactions Davila and Tarnow 2019).

Adversary tolerance - The fraction of the network that can be compromised without the consensus being affected. Each consensus model has a certain threshold to adversary tolerance
