Hi All,

I'm working on building on a business case on introducing a centralized process repository within my organization. Actually, it's a bit broader than just process centralization - it's driving a greater focus on creating a process discipline.

I have a good amount of detail and speaking points however, would like to ask this forum if there are any frameworks/categorization models that exist that I use to to logically organize this?

I'd like to show a centralized process repository, process modelling/simulation, drill-down heirarchy, enablement of SOA (business process view), standards adherence, identification of process owners, centralized understanding of KPI/Metrics, etc, etc...

Any insights are welcomed....

Neilesh,
I believe the data structure will be the key to your success. I suggest you begin data modeling now.

In the 90's my team and I built a repository in Lotus Notes that identified every business process, indexed every job description, every regulatory related item along with process cycle costs, cycles per year and more.
We were able to mine that repository for use in internal control reviews (segregation of duty issues), impact of changes of pending regulations on operations, process improvement opportunities, etc.

Today I would have used more a a database approach integrated / interfaced to some process modeling tools.

This is an ambitious undertaking. Good Luck.. keep us up to date on your progress, breakthrough, challenges and hurdles.

Neilesh,

We have built a process knowledge base for one client that depicts their end-to-end processes for managing a large toll road. While the hope is that someday they will convert to a BPMS, this initial phase at least has given them the baseline for understanding the interactions between the many internal organizations. The links to their documentation is embedded and it has succeeded in achieving the goal of process realization.

We are also working on the integration of process models with a SharePoint site. The native messaging features help turning this static Vision map into a workflow engine with a document repository. This is being built in accordance with the BPMN 1.1 modeling standards for hopes that they will one day migrate to a BPM suite.

If you would like any additional information on the methodologies that went into the development of these process models and solutions, let me know.

Why dont you check ISO process models and CMM process models! I am not sure if this answers your question!
