A scrum master is the facilitator for an agile development team. Scrum is a methodology that allows a team to self-organize and make changes quickly, in accordance with agile principles. The scrum master manages the process for how information is exchanged.

Hi Rabia,
Scrum Master is responsible for promoting and supporting Scrum. Scrum Masters do this by helping everyone understand Scrum theory, practices, rules, and values.

Surprisingly to know about you got hired for that role even you were not in that role before. Without official training, you will get troubles when working with development team, product owner, and customer or sponsor. Read Scrum Guide first, ready to be servant leader and learn by lessons.

The first thing is to read and undestand the Scrum Guide. When you see it you will find thre is not line about to use user stories, story point, kanban, etc. After you read and undestand the Scrum Guide then you have to undestand which is the implementation of Scrum into your organization. It does mean if your organization are using tecniques like user stories, story points, etc.

Rabia -

Find a coach - fast!

Merely reading the Scrum Guide or taking a course in Scrum or getting your CSM is insufficient to be effective at supporting your team.

Congratulation Rabia for the opportunity. You have been given a lot of suggestion and material, please follow them carefully. I would like to bring following to your notice.

1) If you were involve in traditional project execution in your previous role, you have to unlearn many things. First and foremost Scrum Master is not a Manager. Try to play a role of a facilitator for everything you do with team. Give them freedom and observe.

2) Go for CSM certification as early as possible, it will give you understanding of framework and terminology which will help you a lot.

3) If your current team is a scrum team then connect to them and find out what they were doing before you and what are their challenges, it will give you question, you can look for in your CSM training, in forums and material you will follow.

4) Be open to make mistakes and adopt, and be open to new learning. You will find a lot of ideas from the team. Remember there are various ways to achieve any objective but you may not know all. Be a team player.

Hope it will help you. All the best. Whenever get time, share your scrum journey with us.

Congrats on the role. Several things in this thread that are concerning, but simply looking forward, there are a few things you can do:
Read the Agile Manifesto
Read the scrum guide
Search for articles related to the role of Scrum Master
Have conversations with other scrum masters
Engage in a community with scrum masters
Find any local meetup groups
Read the job description of your new role
...etc.

Good luck.
