Dear All,

Can you please help me understand the required specific hard & soft skills for managing cloud strategy projects.

Can you also please suggest some books/websites on project/program management in cloud computing.

Thanks
Bala

I wouldn't expect you'd need any different skills for a cloud strategy vs. any other type of technology project. Your negotiation and stakeholder engagement skills might be pushed a bit harder given the likelihood of misalignment of objectives, but that's about it.

It would help to have some domain knowledge related to these types of projects so reading online or consulting with colleagues who have managed similar projects will be two ways to increase your awareness.

Both hard skills and soft skills are required for project managers. This statement is for all other roles and positions. It has to do with the planning as well. You may need different soft/hard skills for different projects in the same industry.

Sorry but i saw a funny side of this .

I have this funny feeling that some people associate "Cloud" as there being thick smoke and no people involved .

Exactly the same kind of hard and soft skills as any other project apply .

jokes apart , consideration of security is paramount when you are looking at the cloud because every business needs to have the assurance that it's data is safe from the intruders (at-least as safe as it thinks its data is in an onshore accessible data center ....(again giggling ) )
