I have come across a post by Mike Griffith in his blog on leadership and Agile project management.
http://leadinganswers.typepad.com/leading_..._suitabili.html

In that post he discusses different tools, which help to decide whether Agile is appropriate methodology for the given project.

The tools he discusses are:

1. The Slider

2. DSDM Suitability Filter

3. Alistair Cockburn’s Project Criticality and Team Size

4. Boehm and Turner – Radar Chart

5. Dave Cohen’s Agile Factors

6. The Organizational Suitability Filter

I know agile methodologies only from the literature therefore I am a bit vague on how does the practice of selecting a methodology takes place.

Do you use any of these tools? Or any other? Or is it one method fits all?

How do you approach methodology selection?

Thanks

Nikolay
