That depends.
I know there are projects, such as government projects, that won't allow people from other nations to be in certain roles/positions on the projects. In the U.S., we have some states with laws governing how state government projects work and the priority is placed on being a resident of the state (Michigan I believe has such a law in place).
Outside of government, there are probably only a few reasons why it would be an issue. It might be impacted by laws the project is operating under. For example, if a company cannot sponsor someone from another nation or is unwilling to do so. But if the person is already present and able to work legally without company sponsorship, it usually is not an issue.
I suppose one consideration might be more related to cultural or religious traditions and the nature of the product rather than nationality. Placing someone on a project who is an avid practitioner of a religion and the nature of the project is involved in something that is counter to the religious beliefs. But that is a little different than nationality and might be a far harder conversation to have. Saving Changes...

This is actually a complex question. In normal circumstances, a team member's nationality should not be a factor. However, there are closely related consideration that may come into play. Is the worker authorized to work in your nation? Is the worker remote? If so, are there time zone considerations? Can the team member effectively communicate with the rest of the team? Are there contractual or legal restrictions that could limit the use of workers from certain nations, or which require citizenship or security clearance in your nation? Conversely, does the worker's nationality add capabilities to your team that you would not otherwise have (for example, you may need support in another country if you're trying to release a product into that country)?
Also, there's a distinction between Nationality (where you are a citizen), National Origin (where you were born or previously held citizenship), and residency. There may be legal considerations along these lines. Where I live, for example, it's illegal to discriminate based on national origin. Saving Changes...
