This is not a question but a heads up for those studying for certification, "Project Scope Statement" is different that "Project Statement of Work", because Project Statement of Work does not exists in PMBOK, but "Procurement Statement of Work"instead .

Rather than a question, this for commenting or discussing...

I agree with George, in addition I also add the difference between the Statement of Work (SOW) with the Procurement Statement of Work, where the first specifies what the product, service or result will be provided by the project. The second one specifies which acquisition item is required to meet the requirements that provided the product, service or project results.

Cleber, be careful, you might be referring to PMBOK v5, the Statement of Work (SOW) was removed from the PMBOK v6.

PMBOK v6 only mentions Procurement the Statement of Work (SOW)...

PBMOK Page 447

12.1.3.4 PROCUREMENT STATEMENT OF WORK
The statement of work (SOW) for each procurement is developed from the project scope baseline and defines only that portion of the project scope that is to be included within the related contract. The SOW describes the procurement item in sufficient detail to allow prospective sellers to determine if they are capable of providing the products, services, or results.

Geroge, I only supplemented your comment with another difference from the Procurement Statement of Work with the Statement of Work (SOW).

In this issue there was no change of definition of the PMBoK 6 ed. (page 661) in relation to 5 ed. (page 127) in the Portuguese version.

Maybe you did not interpret me correctly or your English version has a different translation with the Portuguese version of PMBoK, which probably caused you to create a doubt.

"12.3.1.4 DOCUMENTATION OF ACQUISITIONS

The procurement documentation contains supporting records for the management of procurement processes. Procurement documentation includes statement of work, payment information, contractor job performance information, plans, drawings, and other correspondence."

12.3.1.4 DOCUMENTAÇÃO DE AQUISIÇÕES

A documentação de aquisição contem registros de apoio para adimistração dos processos de aquisições. A documentação de aquisição inclui a especificação do trabalho, informações de pagamento, informações sobre o desempenho do trabalho do contratado, planos, desenhos e outras correspondências. (page 496 - Portuguese version - PMBoK 6ª ed.)

In addition, there are also references to the difference of the Statement of Work (SOW) with the Procurement Statement of Work in glossaries (page 709 - Portuguese version - PMBoK 6ª ed.)

Cleber - thanks for you reply!

Let me download the Portuguese version and read it...

The English version removed the traditional "SOW" entirely and only refers to Procurement "SOW"...

Thanks for your input, I'll read the section and get back... I could be an error in the Portuguese version...

How can Portuguese version can be different than the English version? I would be surprised.

Tushar, the versions are the same, what differs is the translation and interpretation of details of some expressions or terminologies of PMBoK.

Regardless of language, the idea and content are the same.

There is nothing different ok.

Cleber, I did check and you're right.

I was not able to download the POR version but, I found what you have stated in the ENG version.

They have not deleted the (SOW) concept from the glossary. It's both an inconsistency and an error.

Can easily confuse the reader, because in the entire text it states (SOW) as for Procurement Statement of Work, but in the glossary it remains just as in Version 5...
