Suresh I cannot quote an exact percentage but one thing I am sure if you do not communicate well, effectively and efficiently then I am sure the project will fail! I have seen that happing to many times. Best

It can't be evaluated it depends on complexity and size's project

As you are doing a thesis this sounds like a great opportunity to conduct a survey to try to get a statistically relevant sample of sponsors or PMs to weigh in on this.

The challenge will be determining whether communication was the root cause of a project's failure or just a contributing factor.

Completely agree with Kiron and was going to recommend the same. A newly conducted survey will also provide you with fresh context for the thesis. There are several articles that reference this topic, but many are outdated. You're on a great site for this! Good luck with the thesis.

I agree with Kiron. However, it has to do with the nature and size of the project.

100% of the projects are bound to fail due to lack of communication. If people don't talk they will not know what to produce.

I am sorry I am the bringer of bad news here but I don't think there's a need to do any research or write a thesis on a common sense fact.
