Dears,

Can we use provisional sum in remeasureabl contract for works in general without defining details.

For example, in maintance work; we allocate a fixed amount ( 500,000) $ as provisional sum for repair works which will include any activity ( cracks in the wall, doors, ceramics, etc) need repair.

Kindly could you share you past experience with examples in this regard.

Dear Riad
Provisional sum is exactly that! Something you know that can be necessary and as such an appropriate allowance is made! Consider this as a risk allowance!
Yes you can use provisional sums in remeasurable contracts! But you need to be clear as far as the scope applicable to the PS. i.e. you need to define the type of works (quantification and valuation) that can be certified under the PS.

I think should be clear and mentioned as contract condition to avoid any conflict in the future

Dear Tamer,
Thanks for feedback. I have checked with some experts who told PS can be even used for undefined/general work? like you allocate amount of money for repair works. Then during BOQ discussions, we can specify the activities .
