I would like to seek opinion from the participants on the role of Empathy as one of the most important leadership skills and how it can transform organization's mindset.

Gaurav,

I put together the following regarding empathy and its value in projects:

Empathy is a form of Understanding,
Understanding is a form of Knowledge,
and this one we all know - Knowledge
drives projects.

Therefore, empathy is valuable not
just to the nature of relationships,
but to the nature of projects.

Have you heard this theory that 85% of your career success has to do with your ability to communicate? https://www.nationalsoftskills.org/where-did-this-come-from/

This research would support that empathy is an important element of leadership success. Personally, I believe that trustworthiness is equally or more important. After all, if a team member doesn't trust that I will respond to an issue with empathy and intelligence, it is unlikely that they they would approach me for assistance or guidance in the first place.

True leadership is unselfishness. Empathy is a core component of that.

I wonder why empathy was picked? While it is an important quality it is but one in the spectrum of leadership qualities. Each quality needs to be nurtured. I would counsel against making any one quality more important than others.

Empathy is important, but unselfishness is what makes an excellent leader.

I think empathy enables to know if the people we are trying to reach are actually reached. In my experience without empathy, we can’t build a team or nurture a new generation of leaders.

Empathy is going to be of little use if you don't have the companion qualities of self-awareness, self-regulation and intrinsic motivation..
