do you consider is a good name for this process group in an agile aproach? what kind of techniques do you use in agile aproach to be effective in these process considering that the agile assumptions are the team self.empowerment. Is it enough with the agile ceremonies and the agile tools as virtual boards? history points tracking and these kind of techniques?

Yes, is a good name because monitoring and control is inside Agile methods too. Teams are not self empowermtne in Agile environments. People are self-organized. In other environments than Agile project managers do not monitoring and control teams Project managers always monitoring and control progress, risk and issues. Is the same in Agile environments with the diference that tools/techniques can depend on the Agile based method you use just in case you use one (just to remember Agile is not related to a method, process, software or IT).

my question is snot related toa software projects or IT projects. I do not understand when people hear agile thinks about software or IT.
If I am saying agile I am saying interactive+incremental approaches.
if we are taking about agile in that sense and the agile philosophy I consider that talk about monitoring and control is heavy different from the traditional approaches. And part of the point that PMI guides are losing adopters is because Project managers are not changing their minds about monitoring and controlling processes.
