Change project name after the Project Charter have been Approved

Can i change the project name after the Project Charter have been Approved?

As long as it is change approved. Personal opinion on the sounding of the new project name, is best set aside.

You can everything your project team approve. But change the name is one of the worst decisions you can take. It is not about project mangement, is about maketing theory.

At the project charter level approval level, everything is at a high level and start point so as a project manager you have to analyze yourself before doing anything and if there is no impact on anything and constraints you can change it and communicate to all stakeholders by telling the reason of changing the project name If it is affecting project constraints then you have to analyze and propose to CCB / Sponsor for approval and communicate to all stakeholders once it is approved/rejected.

You’re absolutely right Sergio. Anyone of implementation team will refer to project charter to know what the SOW, project objectives and so on. Sometimes I try to involved PM early to ensure whether within special conditions the timeline still realistic or not? It purpose to reduce gap between plan & actual. Because a good plan will very determined how the implementation running.

Yenny, you must got the all the insights of changing the name in middle of the project life cycle.
