I am currently studying for the pmp and did not really know where to begin. There is so much material one can gather from so many sources but at the end of the day it becomes more stressful and scary cause you start to doubt yourself.
So i purchased the pm bok started reading it,i mean just browsing initially and not studying or memorising but merely understanding really.I read the first 70 pages for about 5 times and started to apply it on my expertise and knowledge in the field and hey guess what?I wish i had done this earlier in my life.It started to fit like a puzzle for me.So heres the deal understand the basics just like how you did it in school and start a firm foundation with the intro and all will fall into place. The most important procedure i have maintained is after you understand a concept, idea or term try and remember where you have experienced, used or come across this previously even in your personal life or work experience.
It is truly a long, long way to go but first things first a foundation so that your structure is firm and closed or completed like a project on its own cause if you think about it,it really is.
I recommend you take a course specifically designed to prepare you for the PMP® exam. Select the delivery method based on your preferred learning style, available time, and desired budget. Personally, I prefer the self-paced courses as they fit my availability better and allow me to go faster or slower, as needed.

Classroom, 120 hours including group projects during classroom hours
PMBOK
Andy Crowe’s text
Rita Mulcahy’s text, primarily the exam questions
Aileen Ellis’ texts: Network Diagramming, Earned Value, Contracts
PMP Certification Mathematics by Vidya Subramanian, Ravi Ramachandran (although relatively unknown, I recommend this resource)
3,000 questions from the above texts and via online resources
And, most valuable, a study partner

Our class instructors highly encouraged us to form study groups as we completed our last classroom hours. In fact, they allowed class-time for us to start the process. They suggested grouping by the date we had planned to sit for our exam. We grouped based on geography and schedule availability. I ended up with one study partner. We worked together for 4 months, meeting both face-to-face and via videoconference. We were accountable to each other and to our shared study sessions. It was the most valuable part of my study efforts. Both of us passed on our first try.

I took Online training and Self study.
You cannot grasp everything in a 7 day clasroom study. Focus on quality videos from Praizion, it is really effective. Take at least 4 quality mock tests before gicving real exam.

4. No course ( self-studied)

Many Resources are available online to assist those who decide to self study. The real trick is once your understand the process flow & iterations, inter-relations & dependencies of outputs & inputs of different processes and tools & techniques of each process, you are almost ready. Then only you have to carry-out self assessment for different mock exams available online to reach at least 80-90% of passing these mocks.
It took me roughly study of 10 hours a week for 3 month to pass the exam in first attempt.
