Agreed. ASQ already supports the field of Quality. Additionally, the field of Quality is BIG. ASQ certifications include: Quality Auditing, Reliability Engineering, Quality Management (which has some duplication with PMP), and more. What PMI /could/ do, however, is work with asq.org to align terms (or at least disambiguate them as necessary). I would like to see the international professional and certification societies and organizations work together and identify gaps.
Thank you to each of you for your contributions...! Saving Changes...

If quality certification isn't necessary why do we have Risk Management and Scheduling certifications?
Why is Risk necessary but Quality isn't?
I know that people that have both certifications will hate me but both has no sense. If you see the related standards (I was part of the group of authors and reviewers) it has no enough consistence to create a certification based on the standards. The same for portfolio and program.

Thank you Sergio! I especially do not understand why there is a certification for Scheduling when scheduling is a huge part of project management and was adequately covered in preparation for PMP.

I agree that Quality is part of the existing PM job function and we don't need new certification. Infact I would say Quality assurance is part of several tasks of every project, without which we cannot say the stated objective has been achieved. Saving Changes...

You are welcome. It is something that "falls by its own weight" when you see the related documentaion. It was created on times where all related to schedule or risk were made in "artisan" way. I lived those times.

All-
As a Construction Industry Project Manager, it is your willpower that implements the Quality and Safety practices, and every other minimum standard for your Project.
Additionally, of the many duties the Owner expects from your performance, Quality performance and implementation, Safety Standards implementation, Schedule Performance, Project Controls performance, Project Execution and Field mangement, Document Control Management, Communication/Business writing skills, Change Management, Financial Performance, Stakeholder Management, and Procurement Management are basic requirements.
Should we have separate Certifications for these as well? I don't think so.

I think it's a good option to add as a new certificate same other certificates Saving Changes...
I see where one young boy has just passed 500 hours sitting in a treetop. There is a good deal of discussion as to what to do with a civilization that produces prodigies like that. Wouldn't it be a good idea to take his ladder away from him and leave him up there?
