Project management is not easy - in fact it can be very complex and and stressful. What helps relieve your stress?

I like to go for long walks with friends and family. I also enjoy cooking and baking - especially making desserts. Both of these things are stress relievers for me.

What about you?

Good topic for input, Lori!

Working out at the gym, giving back to the community, blogging, playing golf and baking are just a few of my stress busters...

Hello Kiron - thank you for responding - what do you like to bake? I love creating food in the kitchen. Very fun for me.

That's a good point Lori!

Making exercises and going shopping :) are some of my stress relievers!!

Anyway, I also use to look for means to reduce the stress level within my workplace because in the same way I’m stressed most likely project team members are too. Some things I’ve done: having lunch together in a nice restaurant, “happy meeting” with some foods and drinks from a different country ... it has worked really great so far!

Hello Ana - the lunch hour can be a great time to relieve stress for sure and having lunch and visiting with friends ....or new friends......is a great way to reduce stress right in the middle of the day. I agree!

For stress relief, I enjoy looking at my exercise equipment, being with family, grilling, cooking, writing, genealogy and playing/taking care of my three dogs and two cats.

From a team perspective, I use regular doses of humor (or attempted humor) and have used team activities such as kart racing, table tennis, juggling and of course food and treats.

George - you crack me up - looking at your exercise equipment! I think I've used my treadmill as a clothes rack a time or two (lol).

While we have to define what "easy" mean please let me say that I disagree about project management is not easy. Life is easy. But human being makes it dificult starting from ourselves. The only thing you have to take into account and to understand are: Newton´s Laws of Universal Movement (the 3 laws) and Boltzman´s Entrophy (the right definition not the definition that is commonly published). That´s all.

I know it's bit weird but when in a stressful situation, thinking of most worse scenario and accepting it, give me lots of relief.. because most of the time situation is lot easier than worse scenario.
Listening to Music, on the way to my project site, playing with my kids and Ice Cream are the other measures.......lolz..

I like to go running for an hour. And I also keep studying to improve myself, that gives me more confidence in my self.

What a nice question, Lori.

I hope all of managers are able to find some activity to lower the stress level. As you surely know, it is not so easy to work with someone who is obviosly quite full-of-stress.

As I am sure that all the effort, I put on PM work everyday, worth that income from it, I found quite relaxing to drive to/from work on motorcycle through the mountains. Also fitness during the day is just as good.

Take it easy. Our work is not that hard.
