Stress Relief

Project management is not easy - in fact it can be very complex and and stressful. What helps relieve your stress?

I like to go for long walks with friends and family. I also enjoy cooking and baking - especially making desserts. Both of these things are stress relievers for me.

What about you?

For stress relief, I enjoy looking at my exercise equipment, being with family, grilling, cooking, writing, genealogy and playing/taking care of my three dogs and two cats.

From a team perspective, I use regular doses of humor (or attempted humor) and have used team activities such as kart racing, table tennis, juggling and of course food and treats.
George - you crack me up - looking at your exercise equipment! I think I've used my treadmill as a clothes rack a time or two (lol).

Such a great topic Lori! I do watch romantic comedies which are very simple and predictable. Because when I'm under stress due to a running project, I prefer to see something that is actually simple and going as expected:)

Hi Lori,

What soothes the most is, when your loved ones are around you. Talking to family and kid during the day (not just end of the day), good hearty conversation takes a lot of stress away. Other things such as long walk, going to gym, don't work for me at all, maybe my stress levels are different.

We all have differrent approaches to replenishing ourselves. Some of us are more task-oriented and others are more people-oriented. Sounds like you are the latter.

These days stress in the workplace is a fact of life and should be expected during the life of most projects. A good run or cycle in the morning before you start work will get the body going and have a lasting effect during your work day.
