Being PM is a lot about human interaction, problem solving, making things done, having a vision. I would definitely not steer me aways from this:) There are indeed challenges and times when the pressure is overwhelming, but it's important to be resilient and focus on what matters.

I would advise spending more time as early as possible to build relationships with key stakeholders such as the sponsor and functional managers providing team members to the project.

I agrre with what was said about human interaction and building relationships with key stakeholders. I would also train for PMP earlier and get the certification as soon I have the pre-requisite years of experience.

I would put more emphasis on dissecting the business case for the project and helping the sponsor formulate the business case if need be. Definitely would steer towards that experience as it dictates the product the project will deliver of which the project team will be measured against.

The person I am is built on millions of decisions made over my lifetime. If I went back and changed even one decision, I would wind up a different man. Not necessarily better, not necessarily worse, just different.

If I could go back in time , I would read a lot more books on leadership and management and "soft skills" that make a good Project Manager and put my best foot forward towards achievement of personal and professional growth.

I would rethink about the soft skills that are critical for the PM performance. I think most of us jumped to a PM by accident!! but not being aware of the whole skills are required to be a succesful PM. If youngers are more aware about the complete skills set they would prepare beter their profile.
