Documenting Operation tasks for PMP Application

I am in the middle of preparing my PMP application and trying to figure out about the hours that we spend in doing operation work on a daily basis. Since I manage the operation team, we manage lots of applications on a daily basis, resolve end-users queries, provide on call support etc. Can someone please let me know how can I document this in my application? These operation acitivites are on a on-going daily basis.

For e.g. we have daily nightly jobs that run to load our database. If anything fails, we resolve the issue and re-run the jobs. So how do I report this on my application? Do I create a generic project named like Operation or something similar and log in the hours?

Thanks in advance and look forward for your guidance.

The PMI is very clear to be eligible for the PMP credential, that you need to be involved in projects. This is very different from operational work, which is what you have described. Based on what you have written, I don't see anything there that would fit the eligibility requirements.
See: http://www.pmi.org/PDF/pdc_pmphandbook.pdf

That being said, if you are indeed performing project management activities in your tasks, I think you could group them under a project name. You would also need to specify the hours that pertain ONLY to project management, and none related to the operational duties that you've described. Hope that helps.

Thanks Rubin for the clarification. This was very helpful and that's what exactly I had thought too. I do project management but since I manage the operations team, I do spend time in those activities as well and was wondering if I should include them as well.

Thanks,
Maruti.
