I'm already PMP® certified, so I'm not looking for any recommendations of specific courses to take.

However, I'm curious to know how people generally decide on a course.

I decided to go a cheaper route with the study materials for my PMP exam. It resulted in my not passing the first time. I did my research on sites like this and ended up going back to my original source used for my CAPM certification and an additional one suggested by people on this site. It made a world of difference.

Hope that helps.

Hi Eric, the course I took was recommended by my wife :) She had taken the same course several years before me and really liked it. If I remember correctly, her employer at the time had sponsored her and several others to sit the course together. Not sure where or how they had found and/or decided on this particular one.

I started using books and an elearning course and found that, as I approached my exam date, I wasn't as confident as I wanted to be. I took an online bootcamp by a provider that was recommended to me by a friend and I really enjoyed it. I may have been able to pass on the first time with just the elearning course and the books, but the bootcamp clarified some areas I was struggling to understand and ensured that I passed on the first go.

People generally search the web or ask their peers, colleagues, informant people, etc.

If cost is not a factor, then I would choose a bootcamp with a live instructor. However, if cost is a consideration, then I would choose a webinar series after conducting a review of the content differences and attendee reviews.

My recommendation is: none. No matter I teached those courses from years.

I came to know about PMP from one of my Peers and then researched a lot in web.

There was no exam preparation course readily available when I was preparing for my PMP in 2003. I did use two different exam preparation courses for my PMI-SP (2012) and PMI-RMP (2016). My main requirement was the availability and number of mock exams. I liked that I could trace my erroneous answers back to the exact material. I have not found flash cards useful.
