I am looking for some help from my fellow ganttheads. I would like to propose to upper management that we buy premium membership here for at least one individual, if not the entire project management staff.

We are in a serious belt-tightening period, but we are still shy quite a bit of project management expertise and best practices.

Does anyone have any ROI figures they can share with me? Any anecdotal evidence of cost savings or process improvements? Any other clear arguments as to how good an idea this really is?

TIA

Not having a Gantthead membership (i.e. a parasite ), the lack of response to this topic in over a year caught my curiousity. I've read all of the sales stuff on the Gantthead site regarding what a membership offers, but not seeing any members defend the value of a membership, not even with anecdotal evidence, is curious. Is it apathy, or lack of value?

Rich,

I'm not sure why there was no response in this particular thread, but the feedback that we receive daily here at gantthead is very positive from both paid and registered members.

Here are a few quick examples:

When managing a project, there is nothing better than to be able execute your project management activities within a set of guidelines (one that is flexible and supports many different types of projects) and have bountiful resources at your fingertips (or mouse clicks). This knowledge-enriched world is what I am attempting to secure for project managers in our consulting organization. When seeking out project management processes and resources that would support our requirements, I first went to Gantthead. Just to be fair, I checked out a few other processes as well (I shouldn't have wasted my time). Gantthead supports 93% of our PM needs (trust me, we are a needy group!) and also provides us with a competitive advantage through access to many other processes, cool articles and discussion groups. The closest any of the other processes came was 69% - and there were no fringe benefits. I can't tell you how many times I've needed templates, examples, and just some good advice on things that pertain to my job. I've always gotten what I've needed from Gantthead! I'm now on a personal crusade to have our company adopt Gantthead as our primary source of service delivery information. A few months ago I began circulating the Gantthead newsletter to the company (about 120) with a note that said, "If you don't want to get this regularly, let me know and I'll take you off the list". There were only 3 people who asked to be removed... . . .

Our organization has developed its own home grown project methodology based upon best practices from across the IT industry. My team is less than 3 years old so we of course still have many gaps in our processes. Weve used Gantthead to help use fill these gaps. Over the last year weve reference Gantthead to help us flesh out our Change Management and Risk Management processes, to redesign our templates for Requirements and Design Packages, as well as conducting Post-Implementation Reviews. Although, I go to the SEI, PMI, and other project management websites, I can quite truthfully say I get the most benefit from Gantthead.com. I think this is because it really is a site developed by and for project managers. While other sites seem to be more interested in promoting their own philosophies, services, and tools Gantthead.com is focused on helping project managers manage their projects better. Since I do not manage many projects myself (I'm lucky enough to get to assign them to my team) I personally have not used the "forum" capabilities of Gantthead to seek advice form other members, but I suspect that we will in the coming years. In closing, I'll just say keep up the good work - you are making a difference. Rick Arnett . . .

Commodity Software International, Inc. is changing from a product focused company to a services company providing services in design, development, and deployment of technology. Having offices and customer around the world we were looking for not only tools but techniques for managing and growing our business. Ganthead.com was this dream come true. There is SO MUCH INFORMATION about these processes and prodedures which has already been generated, and proven.. it seemed like a terrible waste to RE-INVENT the wheel. Ganthead allowed CSII to not only increase its business faster but increase our ability to manage and provide value to our customers. We are a dedicated ganthead.com customer and will do everything possible to help ganthead.com grow and succeed for, I guess, very greedy reasons. Thanks a million (which is a small amount) for creating such a valuable, and powerful resource.

If you need ROI numbers, we have a document that outlines one approach to gantthead ROI that many have found useful.

We purposely dont push sales in the discussions as we feel they should be completely focused on helping PMs do their work. However, if you need more questions answered or would like to see support for the site that is different from what you see here, please contact me directly at [email protected].

Dave, the link to the ROI document is broken. Can you please re-post? We have been looking for ROI info for quite some time here at work.

Thanks!
