Is there anyone else out there using VR to teach students about construction project management?

I teach at the Master of PM level and get many students who have never been on a construction site or been involved in a project - clearly, that puts them at a disadvantage to others in the class that have.

To give them that experience I have been making 360-degree movies on construction sites and developing a suite of example activities - so that the students can put on the VR goggles and be immersed into the site to see and hear what it's like

I am keen to share ideas and experiences with other teaching practitioners who have done the same and students have benefited in any measurable way

I'd like to experience this for my own sake. I'm an Information Technology PM, but I've always wanted to know what construction PMs did.

the way I like to tell my students is that project managers are macro planners where they could be planning for months or even years, and construction management is all about micro-planning, making plans that go down to hours of a shift, as once construction starts it doesn't stop until the point of operational handover.

There are many console games that you can purchased that bring a real life scenario to the virtual world. These can take the role of managing a complex situation such as building teams, cities and worlds in a virtual environment. However in my experience these are are a good starting point for a student to immerse themselves into a new situation but the learning curve quickly tapers off as these scenarios can only go so far even inputting real world data situation. Having said that there are definitely have a positive contribution to the Project Management academic community.

there are indeed many 3D simulations that show an avatar walking through a construction site of sorts, not that realistic but used widely to demonstrate WHS risks on sites
