It is a known fact that a well motivated team can achieve anything. This assumes that there is a well-motivated project manager that instills enthusiasm into the team. But who / what motivates a project manager ? I would love to know thoughts from this community, what motivates us as project managers

Thank you Suzi for your response. Self motivation is the key, but there has been times in my career where a little support/ push helped me to continue on this journey. A lifetime support from veteran PMs and a community like this gears me up for the next challenge :)
Great thanks Priya and everyone! :-)

True, sometime we get so attached to a project it almost becomes as a part of a personality. In order for a project manager to stay motivated about a project then he or she must be truly interested in the project at hand in order maintain a high standard and not just want to see the project over the line.
Motivation is an important factor in achieving results on a project team but as previously said each of us are motivate by different factors so in the end of the day it is up to us to find out through experience what truly motivates and what environments are we best motivated in a ensuring we bring that into our daily lives. A good project manager can only bring us so far in relation to best work practises for a project management office.

I get my motivation from the interactions with the team. No matter what issues we encounter during the project, we as a multidisciplinairy team always manage to solve them. And at the end when the project is completed it feels like a victory.

And then you get a new project with a new customer, new team, ... to experience it all over again, but always different.
