Hello David,
i do totally agree with you. PMI goes the right direction to close the gap between theoretical and technical approach and the reality for us PMs out there.
But what was your question?! ;)

Believe me, it does not matter. What matters is you understand the questions because they are situational questions AND you answer what the PMI expect as an answer in the context of the PMO and the other ouline references.

The game that is changed is not necessarily passing the exam.It is the approach to project management, the shift, the mindset and the recognition of the importance of people in the whole space (teams, leadership, conflict resolution, stakeholder mapping, balancing act and so on.).The change is beyond exams.

But you talk about the exam, or at least is what I understood. In fact those percentages are from content outline, I believe (sorry if I am wrong). If we talk those in the sense you are talking about then let me say: 1-people was always consider like the key success factor. 2-there is a big mistake about the percentage assigned to business environment because is against the systemic thinking that must be prevail in project management. At end is not about the PMI. Is about each of us. The PMI sometimes will try to bring water to its mill (this is not a concern. sometimes we forget it is a business and as any type of buisiness there is a need to survive, growth and developt).

While this is a positive change in terms of testing what is important, it is unfortunate that it follows so soon after the changes brought about by the PMBOK Guide Sixth Edition. Working for a PMI REP, I can attest the level of effort involved in updating materials for prep courses and this has been two fairly significant changes within a couple of years. Saving Changes...

Kiron, yes, it is another example of the increasing frequency of change.
The balance has to be established between a stable value of the exam and the continuous adaption to the landscape. True for PMI as well for REPs or other training providers.
I believe that PMBoK ed 7 will pose a even greater change (if made good towards this balance). Saving Changes...
