What is the largest Project you have managed? I mean planned timeline / team size / scope / budget volume. If you like to comment if you were able to finish it on time, in scope and on budget it would be welcome as well.

I am asking this question as I am interested how complex the Project might be real examples and as well where I would place my top-1.

I would assume that as a rule it would make sense to cut a more complex Project into a few smaller pieces but probably it is not always done or not always possible

Hi Lukasz,

Our biggest challenge is organization change management. But not the one you would normally think.

Because we've had such a large project team, we've been able to deliver many tools to support the internal staff using the products: training, job aids, champions, superusers, ...

The business users got used to getting a lot from the project team and now they keep asking for us to do more than the organization ever did for them..
Hi Stephane,

What was the Rationale for creating such a large Team?

Usually there are staff/budget constrains

The biggest constraint was the deadline: we had to go live on April 1, 2019. That gave us a little over a year to prepare the legislation/policies, hire the business support staff and develop new functionality for over three applications.

When the department submitted its funding request, it asked for money, lots of money. And the department got it.

This is an interesting question as I was curious as to how others viewed "big" projects. Within our organization (Federal Government/ military acquisition), I would any project less than CAN$100M would be viewed as a small project. Even projects less than CAN$1B are managed by very small teams (10-20 persons). The complexities are often high due to the bureaucracy of government and often due to the type of equipment being procured. Project approvals are lengthy and somewhat complicated, and typical project life cycles are 10 years plus, and involve an acquisition contract, an in-service support contract, which can include infrastructure aspects, training requirements, and spare parts/ overhaul, etc.
