What role can the project manager do in SAFe?

That is typical of anything larger than a single Scrum team. Frameworks used to scale up involve layering, governance and redundancy.

As project managers, we can help tailor the framework to improve effectiveness and efficiency. We should also identify and remove obstacles to protect the Scrum teams. Of course, you can also do all the things a project manager does than a Scrum master doesn't do: manage and report on project schedule, budget and performance.

For organizations which have fully implemented SAFe, a common transition is for a PM to move into a Release Train Engineer role.

I am in charge to implement SAFe in my actual work place. SAFe is an example of anti-agile way to do things but it was a decision taken from the top management. Project Manager role does not exists in SAFe. So, try to fit it into Scrum roles. My recommendation.
