During your current cycle, i.e. year1-year3, you prefer to finish the 60PDUs and complete renew procedure at year1 or year3? Saving Changes...

I took a month off after passing my PMP and then immediately started working on my required PDU's. Between the webinars here and studying for my ACP certifications, i was able to complete my required PDU's within 6 months of passing my PMP.

Thank you Steve, will “early renewal” affect the start day of your second cycle?
Originally it should start from year4 and end in year6. You finished renewal in year1, the end day of your second cycle remains in year6? :D

PMI adds the new cycle to the end of your current one (as opposed to starting the three years from the recertification date). For example, my PMI-ACP is good till 9 August 2023 which is more than three years from now. Saving Changes...

During my first cycle, I was able to renew early, which left a gap of a couple of years of being able to earn PDU's that would count toward the next cycle. Saving Changes...

When I first obtained my PMP, I got all of the PDU's in the first 6 months (mostly because everyone kept telling me it was going to be a lot of work). Then I did the PMI-ACP and it took me 2 months to get all of the PDU's. For the PMI-RMP, it only took a month. So I renewed early for everything.
My first PMP cycle ended last December. This time around I am taking my time to gather PDU's, taking a more consistent approach with learning and trying to enjoy the process more. I am over halfway there and still have over 2 years. I cannot even start on the next round of PDU's for ACP or RMP until 9/2020 and 2/2021. Saving Changes...

I usually renew early, within he first year after getting certified so most of my certifications are valid for more than 4 years. Saving Changes...

Good question Alex - I was wondering the same thing myself. I passed the exam in June, and as of today, I have to earn 14 more PDUs to re-certify. I wasn't sure if PMI would start my three years over at the time I finish those 14 PDUs or if they would wait until my original 3 year cycle ends. According to Kiron, they add it to the current cycle. Great information - thanks everyone! Saving Changes...

I've just gone through my second renewal cycle, and have found that pacing and spacing works best for me.
My work schedule periodically provides for "quiet" days - so i will turn to watching a Webinar (or two) on those days. Periodically i get sent off for some kind of company sponsored training - and then file for the PDUs.
I actually had excess PDUs earned during the year before renewal on both cycles, which were rolled into the next cycle, specifically 8 that rolled when I renewed just a month ago. Saving Changes...

I always complete my renewals early. I also earn the maximum early PDUs for my next cycle. I am currently working on finishing up my PMI-RMP renewal cycle ending July 22. Come next month, I will be in my next PMP cycle and will start working on the remaining 40 PDUs. I won't be able to work on my early PMI-SP PDUs until next February. Saving Changes...
