[A] - What is your current role in your local chapter and what role would you eventually like to work towards?

[B] - If you are not involved in your local chapter - what is your reason for not participating and/or what would need to change for you to get involved?

George -

I served as a director on the board of my local Chapter for six consecutive years in the early-mid 2000's - I covered the Professional Development & Communications portfolios.

Since then, I've stepped away from Chapter work, as I prefer to support the global community through virtual contributions on this site, LinkedIn, and my contributions to PMI's standards.

I found the politics and inertia of Chapter administration and leadership tiring after those six years...

My New Brunswick chapter is in the province next to mine. (We tried on a couple of occasions to start one in PEI but could not get enough support.)

As a result, events are at least a two-hour drive away. I cannot attend many of the events but I have been presenting at our chapter's Professional Days annual conference fairly regularly.

Once we can get the numbers to get a local chapter, I will likely help out on the board.

My local chapter is over an hour away. I try to be involved but work and life often get in the way and I am not able to make all of the monthly meetings. I would like to be involved more in the chapter and take on a leadership role but I wouldn't be able to give the commitment it would deserve with the other competing obligations for my time right now.

The local PMI Chapter I am a Member off is a bit far from where I live (Not too far though) and their events timing at usually 6:00 pm which is not convenient as we get off work around 6:00 pm so I wasn’t heavily engaged with them besides the fact that I tried to connect with them and send them some emails to inquire about some things but never heard a response. I heard from many of my colleagues that this is normally the case, you will hear no response. This is unfortunate as I would have loved to engage with them given my heavy involvement with PMI.

Central Ohio Chatper - a few things come to mind:
1. The timing of the events do not work based on my work schedule, and it is over an hours drive to get there. I would like one to be started in SE Ohio, but have not found anyone else with this same issue near me.
2. The website is not user friendly at the moment, although they are working towards potentially a great site, but every time I look for events, there are none posted, and I find out afterwards that something was occurring.
3. I have tried connecting, getting more involved, understand what assistance I can provide, but have never heard back from a member/board chair to get this information.

Kimberly, this is very very similar to the issues I am facing the my local Chapter. They made me feel they have no interest in engaging members (Maybe in reality its different but thats how I felt about it).

I will the the [B] no longer involve.

I was involve in many interest group in one of the larger chapter, it seem over time the chapter seems more concerne about revenu from training for the PMP than for member benefits. After efforts to change things I’m no longer a member.
