Jochen,
Have you ever checked PMO Value Ring Methodology. It will help you big time in setting up a solid PMO for your client. You can check it online and then get in touch with the Chair Board “Americo Pinto” on LinkedIn and he will guide you further.
It is worth taking a look at it given what you are looking for.
Cheers,

PMO Value Ring is a wasted of time in my personal opinion. I can justify that. Creating a PMO is like to create any other business unit inside your company then the books to read are related to business administration instead of project management. Saving Changes...

I am not sure I agree with you Sergio, it is definitely not a waste of time but this is my personal opinion too. I did dig down into this methodology and it is impressive and based on years of research, actually solid research.

I do the same and is nothing new. But is my personal opinion too. Creating a PMO is not a matter of project management. That´s the problem people face and that´s because some people are seeing open a PMO is a headche. Creating a PMO is a matter of strategy as any other business unit. If organizations create it in that way then the PMO is will be an strategic PMO and will perform as expected.

I fully agree that creating a PMO is a matter of strategy and this is what PMO Value Ring is about. I am not trying to be bias but when I did dig deep down, I came to this conclusion. However, not all PMO's are strategic, as it depends on the purpose they are created to serve.

Yes, Rami. I completely agree with you. That's the idea! Different opinions and points of view are exactly what we need to create our own solutions and ways to overcome challenges. Definitely, one size doesn't fit all and any well-grounded feedback is always valuable. Saving Changes...

I will put my previous comment in other words because I used an Argentine expresion and it was "not happy". Nothing is a wasted of time. We always take something for everything we read or try to understand. Perhaps it could be better saying it can be consider valuable or not, taking into account that value is a subjective matter. Then, it relays on subjective opinons no matter in my personal case I can put on the table the reasons for my comments because that can help me to improve when received feedback. Saving Changes...
