To me, usually 2-3 at the same time, but I will only focus on one.
Focus on more than 1 at the same time usually related to inefficient result

I have handled two projects at same time.
I focused on both projects as per its requirements and completed both projects on time and in budget.

I have had 12+ projects assigned to me, but with most I was just monitoring a self reliant team, and 1 or 2 were my full time occupation. Ideally it is 1, but there are projects that have to get done and don't require a full time PM. A PMO or PM team leader has to divvy those up somehow.

You can call it the Cyber Security Program or Project but it has six individual initiatives or Epics (in Agile terms) in execution at the same time. That's all I can manage at present :) .

I have managed 2 separate initiatives at once before

Depending on the size and type, if the projects are similar then between 5 and 10 smaller projects can be managed effectively - depending of course on the capability of the project manager - in terms of both experience and expertise.

The average is project management activities take 15%-20% of the total duration of the project. It could vary depending on the culture of the organization related to project management. For example, if you are requesting to perform micro management. So, I have situations where I managed 10 projects at the same time.

I have been responsible for as many as 15 projects. This includes 1 -3 projects that consume 90% of my time. Most of the projects that are assigned are based on total hours, not to exceed annualized amounts (~2,080).

Guest it depends on industry, teams experience. I hardly see a PM managing more than one large construction project. On the other hand for software, it can be a few depending on complexity and other factor

I managed up to seven overlapping projects. It helps if the projects are at different points in the project life cycle.

It's different when you are only overseeing projects. In this situation you can handle up to 15 -20 projects, but when working and executing task of projects, I have only performed two - three at a time.
