PMI just posted an update on their REP website indicating that given the feedback received from multiple stakeholders, they felt it best to push the effective date for the new PMP exam from mid-December 2019 to July 1, 2020.

This is a good news story for candidates as it gives more time to prepare for and write the current exam using the large volume of resources available.

Thank you #PMI for being a listening professional body. I am very much relief now to continue my preparation for my exams.

It could be that PMI wanted to have the new questions tested for a longer period. This would make sense given the nature of the change.

Stéphane -

I'm guessing that's a happy side effect of the change, but given the way they worded the announcement, I'm guessing they received a fair amount of constructive feedback from PMI REPs and other stakeholders who would be negatively impacted by a short time frame for change.

I would assume this exam will be no different than past changes - it will take a bit of time for the question pool to "stabilize" which is why I always recommend candidates to wait about six months after a major change before they write the exam...
