've just been asked how process analysis e.g. modelling as-is and to-be, fits in with PRINCE. I think the answer is that it doesn't as it's part of preliminary BA before a project is started and because PRINCE is not concerned with techniques. Any views? Saving Changes...

Prince II offers a lot of freedom in choosing techniques. Please take into account PRINCE II deals with managing projects not developing content. However there are three techniques PRINCE II supports
- Product based planning
- change control approach
- quality review
Based on the short description you are offering I would suggest to explore Product Based Planning which is used in process step PL2 and encompass
- Product Breakdown structure
- product description
- product flow diagrams
All three offer opportunities to describe the current and the desired situation and thus the delta which is most likely the scope of the project
good luck

Hans,
Many thanks. Yes, I think you're quite correct - this is the best place ot map the process flow and then derive the PBS and Product Descriptions though presumably this could be derived from a preliminary feasibility study/business analysis exercise not necessarily within the implementation itself.
Best wishes and thanks again

Prince2 splits the actual execution work of a project into stages, and the process analysis and design would generally form the first stage after Initiation.
There would be a stage plan that would describe what the stage was expected to deliver, how it would deliver it, the products to be produced, the resources required etc
In short, Process analysis absolutely fits within Prince2. Saving Changes...
