I participated in a Webinar that went over the PMI-PBA certification. Does anyone here hold the certification, and if so, would you recommend it to others?

William, I hold this certification and I believe it is worthwhile. Check the below link for my lessons learned:

I also hold the CBAP which is through International Association of Business Analysis (IIBA). I did benefit from this as well.

Between the 2 tests which was more difficult? and which was of more value?
I've got my PMP - and have taken a handful of BA classes from various sources.
I've debated which authority to focus on for training and testing...
As someone holding (at least) BA Certifications from different authorities, and a PMP - what are your thoughts?

I do and I think that a recommendation would be dependent on specific situations. My honest opinion is that we put way too much emphasis on certifications. Do you need it to do your job and/or will you learn something new by doing the certification? No, I do not believe so since experience is a prerequisite to do the certification. So why do we do it? Two reasons - It is required by your industry, organization or position, or for vanity. The PBA like all other certifications has very little to do with real-life scenarios, it's all theoretical. I know very good BA's with PBA or CBAP, I know very bad BA's with PBA or CBAP, I know very good BA's without PBA or CBAP and I know ver bad BA's without PBA or CBAP.

In terms of studying and tests, both were the same level.

As for value, each provided value in a different way. PBA focuses on Business Analysis in a Project environment and briefly expands beyond that while CBAP tackles business analysis from Enterprise perspective so I would say both certifications complement each other and I personally and professional benefited from doing both.

Hope this helps.

I hold it because it is one of my field of expertisse and research. No matter that, I will say what I do each time I decide to get a certification. I made my own estimation about future market demands. According to that I decide if I start the effort or not to get it.
