Artificial Intelligence seems to be everywhere these days. That is being integrated with and deployed into a variety of sectors. Can AI be helpful to boost collaborative work in Projects ? What do you think ?

AI is transforming all jobs in all industries and project management will be no exception.

AI can help in forecasting outcomes and automating repetitive tasks in the project, and hence enhance quality of work and reduce cost.

With AI, project managers and team can better innovate and focus on more complex activities involved in the project and less on the routine repetitive work.

Hello Shadav,
AI has great potential to influence Project management activities and in this regard I agree with Maya. It will provide extra time to project manager by reducing repeatative works for dealing with other important aspect of project.

PMI has done a good job of covering the impact of AI on our profession in this month's issue of PM Network so would definitely recommend a read of that.

Automation tasks ( repetitive tasks ) and AI are clearly two different entities, with later predominantly focusing on "learning rate" and how much its "reliable" defines the success of AI.

AI is still under R&D in my opinion.

AI Integration with Project management will happen like any other process Integration. However the question is when and how ?

We are using AI to recognize business value in documentation. Not only can it do it much quicker than humans, it also increases the success rate from about 70-80% when human-based to 85-90% using AI.

Given a large enough dataset AI can transform project management over time by improving forecasting and most importantly risk analysis and planning. Probably within the next 5 years, we should have tools that alert PMs on risk factors earlier and enable them to focus on the stakeholder management and communications to drive the decisions on the project. I do not see AI replacing the PM role, but it will impact the skills required and approach to each specific project.
