Can anyone recommend an online exam prep course that also gives the 35 contact hours and a good course that prepares well for the exam. Saving Changes...

Hi Jeff,
Just a couple of things before you make your decision. First, you might not need that 35 hours of additional training to meet the requirement. Have you had Six Sigma training or maybe a leadership/team-building class in the past? The PMP Handbook states that you need 35 hours of "project management-related" education. Any course that applies to the project manager skill set applies in my opinion/experience. Other examples might be an Effective Communications course, Finance/Budgeting, Risk, Procurement, Negotiation etc. I suggest mining this educational history to save yourself some time and unnecessary expense.
Even though my company provides PMP training, we don't offer any courses in Colorado at this time. So here is how I would evaluate an instructor-led course. First, who are the instructors - this is the key. How long have they been teaching PMP Exam Prep courses?
Next, how does the company support you - is it just a class or is there additional support (completing the application, mentoring/coaching, etc.) How long have they been in business - at least 5 years? What is their guarantee if any - how many hoops do you need to jump through in order to get it. I think class cancellation policy is very important - life gets in the way of training sometimes. T
The materials a trainer uses is important, but less important than you may think. Everyone teaches to the PMBOK Guide as it is.
Finally, tuition is and always should be a factor - and - this ties into class size.
For online learning, I believe many of the same factors apply. With online learning just be aware that the PMP Exam is more situational versus definitional. Rote memorization won't get you over the hump - your ability to read/interpret questions/answers is the key to success! The exam draws from thousands (some say up to 13,000) to create your exam - that's a lot of memorization!
Anyway, best of luck and realize that the exam is very difficult and requires your complete focus.
