How would you characterize a project that requires input from 4 different departments, 5 different key stakeholders, a bus load of Subject matter experts? The primary goal is to develop a deliverable that is a report that combines information from all 4 departments and will become a prime product for this company?
An Information Management Project
An IT Project?
A Hybrid?

Without kinding I would call it a BI project. Most likely you need a DWH and creating a consistent dataview company wide

I would recommend not calling by a name based on the underlying technology or methodology.. Instead
Focus on the value it will provide to your customers. What is the value?

answer the question the above question is less than 2 -3 lines and you have a value statement. This is critical for you as you have to work with a fragmented group of stakeholders to deliver the product. Unless the name represents the value you will not have "instant buy in"

I am doing a similar project the technical name is "unified data warehouse" .. Basically we aggregate data from 6 systems across several orgs in a BU and present a holistic view (horizontal and vertical).

I named this project Decision 2.0

I agree with Ketan. It comes down to the value the project is delivering to your organization. Most of the "IT projects" done today requires business involvement and keeping the name of the project technology neutral will ensure equal business participation.

My vote goes for hans. Definitely this is a BI Project, that need loads of information spread across the organization. Hence need so many departments/SMEs involvement.

It must have scope beyond IT, that is business in particular.

Hi - I'm with the Business Intelligence people if you are doing a full blown system generated management report - where management information is drawn from several systems / data warehouse to generate it.

If you are doing a tactical solution I would call it MI - Management Information.
