"Wont want to hear this?" Hi Eric, do Sponsors really think they are Gods or do they think Project Managers are Gods ?

We all are humans and some delays to projects are beyond our control. If we escalate early , we should be respected and supported rather than looked down upon. If you don't get the sponsor's empathy and understanding , it's probably not worth your while to be working on that project/in that organisation.

Hi Deepesh, i agree with what you said, but my sponsor is not like what we think of,
when i update him the forecast concerns, he will trying to fire my in the meeting, no one like his approach, however as he is a sponsor we have to take his firing session for no reason,
any advice, how to react and take it easily with such situations.
Every friday we have top management meeting, so firing session starts, did sponsors not listen to what PM highlight the concerns, or all sponsors are same as ours.

Honesty is the base of all communication as well as a moral must. Whether that be the sponsor, the team, stakeholders ..... Project Management is about the good, the bad and the ugly. Honesty keeps everyone informed, at every step.

In Project Management, decisions are made by analysing the real time information against information contained in the project documentation to reach a outcome. Honesty and trust go hand in hand as you can not have trust if you are not being honest. As a result of being dishonest with the project sponsor, this will lead to a poor outcome of the project as you will not realise the project sponsors expectations for the project and may not be employed again by the project sponsor as you will not have built up a level of trust with them.

Dishonesty comes in many forms: telling an untruth, withholding information, and stating true facts in a misleading way. Each of these lies has the unfortunate effect of altering your relationships, dispelling your integrity and, more importantly, hurting the project.
