Does anyone have any ideas or thoughts about why the "Delphi Technique" is no longer included in the PMBOK (6th ed) as a way to reach unanimity- a decision making tool of Collect Requirements?

Mahabubur -

I'd identified this as well as many other tools & techniques which were dropped in the Sixth Edition (e.g. CCPM). I think it came down to what was most frequently used and the desired maximum size of the standard.

What I've always found interesting is when I teach PM classes and ask a question about Delphi to folks who have attained their PMP credentials more than a year back, almost none can describe Wideband Delphi but when I explain what it is and how it helps to remove bias from different types of team-level decisions they are all eager to try it out.

Every time someone uses Estimating/Planning Poker for sizing work items they are using a variant of Wideband Delphi.

It is also very useful when trying to do qualitative risk analysis with a group of stakeholders. Give each three cards with Low, Medium, High on them and have them simultaneously vote for the probability (and then the impact) of a given risk.
