Personally, I agree with most of the projects where identified. Some, in my opinion, are too recent to judge for their long term influence.
What do you think?

I'm surprised Brexit didn't make the list......

Kidding, obviously!

There are some great projects on there and looks like a worthwhile list to read through in detail.

I noticed that Boston's Big Dig also did not make the cut.

I broadly agreed with most of the projects that made on to the list but use of the term "Influential" is something I would disagree as it is reminiscent of other aspects of human achievement. I would prefer to see the terms such Biggest Impact, Largest Reach or Ground Breaking used instead when describing the difference a project makes to be considered in the list of the fifty most "Influential" project of the last fifty years.

I haven't had a chance to read the issue yet, but we got a sneak preview during the day two keynote speech at the PMI Global Conference. The speaker, Rob Safian of the Flux Group, indicated that PMI had used a multi-criteria decision making model to take submissions from 400 contributors and to narrow down the field to these top 50.

I don't recall all the dimensions, but perhaps some of the other community members who attended yesterday's session might share them...

That is one thing that is missing in this communication. There is no explanation f the method used to classified and order.

In the top 50 Alexa is 13th and Google Search 17th, in the technology Top10, Google search is 4th and Alexa 7th.

It seems to me that there is some bias, or it is unclear to me why one was chosen. At position 43 there is World of Warcraft, why is it consider? the number of subscribers, the gross revenues or some innovation.

What is missing is the methodology used to obtain an application and to select them.

I can generally consider that the 50 projects identified were the ones that had the greatest impact on human history in the last 50 years.

Luis,

One I have not made it to the list is the invention of the concept of mouse and menu to operate computers. The invention was by Xerox then popularise by Apple with the Lisa and Macintosh, rapidly copied by Microsoft with Windows.

We all use that technology daily, which is influential. Without that, the user interface would have been those large keyboards with many rows of function keys.

Maybe no one filled the application for that!

The methodology to make the selection is just not explained. sad!

I am convinced that all inventions that have helped us to pursue divinity have changed and will continue to change our lives.
I refer to all inventions that go towards:
- Immortality
- Ubiquity
I believe that what is changing our lives are the inventions related to some of the themes below:
1. Portability
2. Entertainment
3. Ease of Communication
4. Social Relations
5. Utilization of Waste (Recycling)
6. Reuse of what we have the most (airbnb, uber)
7. Energy

I think it's safe to say that 3 years in, Brexit as project is on the brink of failure. It will no doubt have an end either way, as all projects do, but it will never be seen as a success or well run and managed IMO.
