I work for an MSP that was using Wrike but has gone back to Excel for projects (they hated it). Any suggestions for what software options I could give them? I'm about to pull my hair out with these spreadsheets! Thank you in advance.

Software selection depends on your requirements.

Jeffrey -

what are their "must have" requirements and what sort of a budget are they willing to spend? That will help to narrow down the choices and feedback you will receive...

That is true. When looking to bring a new tool into the organization, need to understand what the problem is to be solved. Other considerations are integrations and cloud vs. on-premise. Be cautious of fitting process to match the tool, and be cautious of inconsistencies and changing back and forth, which demotivates new users.

Hi Jeffrey,

As it was said in the other replies the choice of the tool will depend on your requirements, the features you're looking for, your budget...

It may be interesting to know what was wrong with Wrike to better understand your need.

Hi Jeffrey,
As it was already advised that software selection will be based on your requirements and features must have for you. Typically, if your project are typical waterfall model or agile projects. Another choice depends on on-prem or cloud based plus there are other factors to be considered before taking any decision.
Accordingly, you take a decision.
Thanks

Accepting that you need to understand the requirements, here are a few options.

Microsoft Project (MSP) - In depth, detailed, Gantt, resourcing, cloud version and lots of bells and whistles. Might be overkill and if you dont know it, can be hard to master.

TeamGantt - Free version is good for small to medium projects, additional features on subscription. Similar to MSP, cloud based only. https://www.teamgantt.com/

Jira - Great agile tool SCRUM, KANBAN etc, cloud based, license based so needs budget per user.

Asana - Agile base, with lots of nice features for planning and allocating tasks.

Thats a start, but only you will know what your team and reporting requirements will be.

MS Project is a good choice. Excel is not going to cut it.

Once you get a better idea on your requirements, then you can select a PM software to meet your needs.

It is the solution used by my company. And I designed it.
Do you think it is a problem regarding ProjectManagement.com guidelines ?

No not at all, I was just interested to see how it works and understand the theory behind the thinking of the software :)
