It seems free speech is at stake. The purpose of this forum (denoted by its very title) is to have "discussions". When I posted a thread about the new logo, it wasn't long before the moderators stopped the ability to reply. I have to wonder, if the replies had been positive about the new PMI logo, would the thread have been closed? Promoting dissenting opinion (free speech) is the foundation of democracy. Are we to assume that topics can only be opened once, by an originator, and if not, they will be closed and referred to a former thread on the same topic? In that case, half the threads would be closed. Thank goodness this doesn't occur in academic research or we would have nothing to build our knowledge upon. I have seen old threads revisited many times and new insights revealed just by a new spark that was ignited. Granted, the threads regarding the logo are relatively recent, but they will appear again in the future. Will they also be closed using the same logic, even though the people who originally replied may not even be engaged at that point? When a discussion thread disappears off the front page into oblivion (other than for the people who originally subscribed to the thread), sometimes the only way for new people to engage is to resurrect the topic. The evidence of this is the new people that replied to my thread that are not in Kiron's thread. Yes, there are superfluous topics that should not be resurrected, but I would have thought the new branding/logo of the institution responsible for us all being here was not one of them. You make a very good point here. I am not sure how many times the question on recommendations to pass PMP has been formulated, and I have not seen - I could be mistaken - those threads being closed.
On the logo opinion, I also started a Poll, since I thought that it would give a more clear view on the grade of liking/disliking.
Great point about passing the PMP. I don't see the same rules applied to uphold the originator's thread. Would they even be able to find the originator? I doubt it. So that leans more toward a negative thread as being more likely to be closed and duplicating threads as the reason for closing it.

Completely agree on the free speech aspect Sante. Context matters such as this thread and it’s valid in my opinion. In few years in future if I need to search topic I would not want to go through pages and pages in single topic it’s dreadful. We’ll end up like having those dreadful lengthy email chains.

Thanks Suzi. The issue as you have observed is that people rarely search threads (other than those who want to build influence points). The most common way is to go to the Discussions link and access one of only 5 threads that appears at the top of the list. Are we suppose to spend ages looking through threads to make sure a topic has not been opened recently? By that time, perhaps our inspiration to make a post would have waned. The brain wants to convert thoughts asap, the way that organic speech naturally occurs, not sift through endless discussion threads. When we speak, write, think, we always build upon previous knowledge that is similar. That is our reference point; our baselines for building knowledge. Using a similar analogy to closing a thread, we would end up with virtually no inventions, discoveries, cultural or linguistic progression. Saving Changes...
