The latest PMBoK does no longer talk about proprietary QM methods, approaches or frameworks, the last mention of that was in 4th edition on page 190.
Still some PMP prep material includes that notion though, which was questionable anyhow (see below), and which is a sign of the level of quality these material owners have.
Proprietary methods in 4th edition PMBoK was related to the big names of Deming, Juran and Crosby. All others were considered non-proprietary (6 Sigma, TQM, FMEA, VOC etc).
Proprietary though means that the material is owned by somebody in contrast to open source or public knowledge (like many of the concepts of the QM gurus are today). CMMI, OPM3, even ISO 9000 are approaches clearly owned by somebody and could be labeled as proprietary.
For learning for the current PMP, I would skip that flawed concept. Saving Changes...
