One idea is to embed retrospectives, debriefs or lessons learned in everything we do. Make it a habit. For each task. At least once a week. Track it. Ask for feedback. Give feedback. Say thank you. We too often think we do not have time for this.

It changes your world.

The need to evolve is always there. As we realise there are various aspects to Project management such as Quality, HR, Stakeholder management, developing skill sets and expertise such as certifications or specialised training in those areas that are relevant to the job profile will help. Getting trained in Data Analytics or new age technologies like AI, would definitely add an edge to one's profile and also make us versatile PMs.

Shadav -

As my blog post from last weekend indicated, we need to start with the "what" and "why" before getting to the "how".

If we don't know what our target is, then any development option may or may not help.

As teaching and facilitation is my passion and I wish to continue to hone my skills in educating adults, I'm going to be focusing my development efforts there.

As I'm also a CDAI, I will want to continue to learn about changes to Disciplined Agile.

Dear Shadav
I am convinced that project managers will increasingly have to develop interpersonal skills, communication, teamwork, and leadership skills.

I also agree that we can learn a lot from Thomas's suggestion. "One idea is to incorporate retrospectives, analyzes, or lessons learned into everything we do. Make a habit. For every task. At least once a week."

We learn from the process and the content analyzed

Kiron nailed it. I very much agree with his point of view.

I personally am passionate about the PM Profession. I enjoy learning, education, teaching, training, mentoring and consulting. I always like to stay on top of things by exploring what’s new, reading a lot, volunteering. My end goal is to have my own Career Mentoring and Training Consulting Firm and besides my love to the profession and professional development, this another reason I acquire various certifications and when I do, I like to go all the way, I do not stop at the first level (Like poker, all in).

It is a really important subject. And I'm going to give you my personal feedback. 8 years ago, I started to teach project management for some university in France. And when you teach, you need to clarify some topics you usually use. And by doing that, it is also a way to see what you are not doing correctly in your daily work. The perfect example for me was the risk management. By teaching it I actually analyzed what I was doing for some projects were not so good. I also have to rethink some processes I'm used to do. It is a way to be sure why you do it.
