I am sure that by now everyone noticed the new PMI brand and other related changes, like new look and new platforms for the PMI websites.
In the age of Agile when rapid change is the only constant the PMI rebranding is a good indication that PMI's and his leadership is adapting to the 21st century.
I see PMI as a guild that should provide guidance to the project management community as a whole, a community that like any other communities may be afraid of change. Agility is good but each person and/or organization has different needs and appetite. What PMI and us, the "simple" members should do to keep what was good with the "old" PMI: the prestige of the PMI brand, the PMI certifications and PMI standards of practice? Saving Changes...

I very much agree with Kiron and Andrew’s feedback. Old is Gold and with the past there is no present and the present doesn’t work without the legacy of the past. It is all interconnected and the moment a disconnect occurs, this is where an organization might go down the hill.
I think PMI, so far, strikes a good balance between the Past & Present.

@Rami I agree that The Past and the Present are well balanced. I hope that the Past and the Future are as well. The Agile/Digital transformation is neither easy nor very well understood but I am sure that PMI will take advantage of the community of project managers and continue the good work done in the past 50 years.

With the acquisition of Disciplined Agile and Net Objectives the PMI has a significant amount of thought leadership in Agile and agile at Scale. Our CEO has clearly committed us to the path of thought leadership in the area of business agility. I like the comment about us being a "living" organization. Our experience is one asset. Our ability to pivot is another.

Admittedly, marketing and branding have never been my area of expertise. But I don't think a new logo necessarily indicates anything. British Petroleum created a new "green" logo, but that didn't suddenly make them a leader in renewable energy. Kentucky Fried Chicken became KFC, but the menu is the same.
The 6th edition of the PMBOK and the recent acquisitions of DA and FLEX are a much bigger indicator of changes at PMI. Perhaps the new brand is meant to reflect that, or perhaps it's meant to generate attention, but I don't think the new logo, in and of itself, is proof that PMI is "new." Saving Changes...

We will continually grow and evolve just like we have for the past 50 years. I find the changes exciting while I remain focused on the solid principles of project management we continue to build upon. If PMI doesn't evolve with technology, culture, business strategy, market branding etc., there is no hope of a vibrant future. I agree with you that continual growth, development and change is necessary and the logo is not as important as the respect we maintain for what it stands for. Our ethics and principles are what guide us, not our branding or platform - but the branding changes are indicative of continual development and improvement.
